Tell Us How You’ll ScanSnap: University Edition

There are many reasons why people adopt a ScanSnap.  It’s a loyal companion when business or personal mobility is required; it assists with productivity and efficiency; it helps maintain and organize documents; it helps create a paperless lifestyle.  In fact, the different ways to utilize a ScanSnap can be limitless, so we asked many of our users to share their stories.  Here are two inspiring stories from university students who share how ScanSnap has improved their productivity or enhanced their lives on campus.

“As a blind graduate student, paper documents are my enemy.  Electronic documents are easy enough, but any paper handouts or articles have to be scanned using special software, one page at a time on a Windows computer.  I spend at least an hour each week scanning, processing, and editing these handouts.  With the ScanSnap S300M, I just put them into the feeder and press a single button.  In seconds, the ScanSnap is sending a clean PDF to DEVONthink Pro Office.  A minute or so later, my Mac can read the file to me.  And the best part?  The S300M is quiet enough that I can use it right in the middle of class without disrupting the lecture, so I have access to the material at the same time my colleagues have it.” – T. Joseph Carter, Monmouth, OR

“We just recently bought the ScanSnap S510 and it has completely eliminated paperwork for us. We work with highly contagious pathogens in a biosafety level 3 containment lab and everything leaving the facility is eventually incinerated. This also means destruction of papers. We previously scanned paperwork on a flat bed scanner. All our laboratory notes, notecards, and documents are now rapidly scanned prior to destruction. So we still have a record in high resolution PDF format and can still destroy our paperwork. Thanks Fujitsu!” – Josh Nguyen, Albuquerque, NM
